Charity
Shane presents Lily Chan of the Mississauga Humane Society with $4,000 from FE 2011's Charity Auction. In 2012, FE will once again be supporting the Mississauga Humane Society (MHS). Founded in 1999, the Mississauga Humane Society strives to find "Forever Homes" for cats and dogs regardless of their background, age, health or previous behavioural issues.
The MHS relies completely on funding from public donations, adoption fees and fundraising and conducts its activities through a network of volunteers and foster homes. All of the funds raised go towards veterinary bills, food and other supplies for the animals — none goes to administrative costs, as they do not have a shelter facility or any paid staff. Over the last ten years they have rescued close to 3,300 homeless cats and dogs.
We believe part of our mandate is to "give back" to our feral furry friends... we may prance around in costumes on two legs, but some have a hard enough time getting around on four. Since 2010, we've raised $4,200 for the MHS, and wowed them with one of the biggest single donations they'd ever seen from our Charity Auction last year. We'd love to beat last year's total!
But we need your help and your generosity to do so. We're currently accepting items to go up for bid at the Charity Auction — please contact Shane at charity@furnalequinox.com if you have any items to contribute. Art commissions, fursuit commissions, movies, comics, or any other items are all welcome.
